“My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.”

– Psalm 71:8

As we conclude our discussion about the power of words, I want to offer one final piece of advice — when you don’t know what to say, simply praise. We can never go wrong with worshiping God, and when it’s the last thing our emotions say to do, that’s when it’s most important to do it. Even if things around us spiral out of control, healing comes as we turn our full attention to the One who is in control. He is the Beginning and the End, and because He never shifts or changes, He is always worthy of praise. He is powerful, majestic, and incomprehensibly glorious, yet He is full of love and compassion. So much does He adore us that He reconciled us to Himself while we were hopelessly lost in a sinful state. And because He sent His Son to be the bridge back to His heart, we can build our faith on the assurance that we are never alone. Our Lord is fiercely invested in the outcome of our lives, and He is passionate about the fullness of our future. In Him is health, peace, and Godly power, and He invites us to come into His presence whenever we don’t know what to do. When we have nothing constructive to say, we can worship. When our souls are heavy, we can worship. When we’re exhausted and can’t take another step, we can worship. And when we’re bursting with joy, we can lift our hands, hearts, and voices in jubilant praise.

My friend, become a person of praise! On good days, heavy days, tired days, and trying days, lift your spirit to Jesus, and remember that He is everything. No matter what you face, breakthrough happens when you trust Him despite your circumstances. Whether it’s putting on your favorite worship music, praying through a chapter of Scripture, or simply thanking Him quietly under your breath, He will inhabit your adoration with His presence. As you position your heart before Him in humility, He will pull you out of the deepest pit, help you climb the highest mountain, and fill you with the faith you need to thrive as you take your next step.

Prayer

Jesus, I pause right now to praise you for who you are. Thank you for being my everything.
