“He answered, ‘The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one,’ ”

– Matthew 13:37,38

We all have dreams that we have planted in the depths of our hearts. Some we’ve carried with us since childhood, while others are implanted in our minds as we experience both good and challenging events in our lives. I have shared several aspects of how we can thrive in a field of weeds. In the “Parable of the Weeds,” Jesus tells us that until the very end of the growth cycle, it’s nearly impossible to distinguish between wheat and weeds —  which personify people.

So how can we continue to thrive in a field of weeds? Don’t let your dreams die! Sow your seeds! Plant dreams that include a family, marriage, children, and a strong bond between family members. You can dream of creating a business that connects people with technology, or one that addresses the needs of the underserved by creating a nonprofit. Whether it is a work of art, a book, or a club that showcases your talents, seed a dream or a project that you want to share with the world!

Friend, as much as the dream you are sowing may terrify you, you know it has to be accomplished or you will not be content. With the help of God, make sure you sow it in the hopes of making your goals a reality. I am sure there will be weeds that may come in the form of distractions or unhealthy thoughts. The weeds may seem to be out to kill your dreams, but I know that your visions for your future are bigger than anything the weeds can do. You can fulfill your dreams as you nurture and care for them!

Prayer

Father, my heart is filled with dreams, so please help me to make them a reality.
