Staff Spotlight: Erica Fennell

How long have you been with the ministry?

2 years and 8 months.

What do you do for Hour of Power?

I am a Ministry Ambassador, where I build and cultivate relationships with our donors.

How did God bring you to the ministry?

I had been working as a freelance fashion stylist and working part time for Banana Republic as a Visual Merchandiser also while in Bible college studying Theology and Biblical Studies, but I felt this strong desire that God was calling me into ministry. I had no clue where to look or where to apply. I just remember one day, a friend of mine reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in working for a church. I knew it was God! All I had was a desire. I didn’t ask or pray, God just opened up the door for me.

What is your favorite part about working here?

My favorite part is hearing testimonies and stories from our donors of how they have overcome so many obstacles in life.

Do you have an impactful story to share from your job?

I will never forget when I got the opportunity to connect with one of our donors one late afternoon. I called her one hour before I had to clock out and she was actually getting ready to head out of the door. At first she sounded as if she was in a hurry, but then I asked if I could pray with her. Hesitant at first, but she proceeded to say yes. She explained to me how she was almost two months late on all of her bills, how she was no longer working full-time at her job. Her supervisor cut her hours and since then, it had been tough for her. I prayed for her and I just remember hearing her weeping through the phone. She thanked me and says, “I am very appreciative of Hour of Power. I believe in the message and the vision of the ministry,”

The reason this story is so impactful to me is because this woman, at the time had given towards the ministry while she was late and behind on bills. Everything about her situation could have given her a reason to not give but because she believes in the message of love, hope and dignity—she gave any way.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Read, hike and spend time with the people I love.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

I’m boring. LOL. I don’t watch much TV. Surprisingly, I don’t even have a Netflix account.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Pink. Not only because it’s my favorite color, but also because when I think of the color pink, I think femininity and love. While being feminine is very sweet, delicate and tender; love is a powerful force! Love for God, others and self.
