“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore…”

– Ephesians 6:13,14 (NKJV)

Yesterday, we talked about maintaining a prayerful posture in the midst of the challenging times in which we’re living. Yet even as we regularly turn our hearts to Jesus, I think many of us feel like we want to do more. And though I’m certain the Lord is revealing new assignments to some in this season, I believe that consistency is the key that unlocks influence in the midst of instability. While leadership sometimes demands blazing a trail, in the current climate, it may just as well be defined by staying the course and being faithful moment by moment. The prize goes to those who don’t quit, and in these uncertain days, remaining anchored in God’s sufficiency is what gets us noticed. In fact, if we’re rooted in the Lord’s unfailing strength, simply standing is enough. Because we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, when our identity is secure in Him, just our presence makes a difference. We don’t have to be the smartest, most innovative, or active — we just need to stay connected to our Source and let His love shine from within.

My friend, you are doing much better than you think you are. The uncertainty in which you’re living is draining, and it’s important to acknowledge this truth. However, you are chosen to be alive in this season, and your consistent, calm, peaceful, and Spirit-filled presence is making life better for lots of people. While you might feel like you lack the energy to charge ahead at full steam, by standing firm in the knowledge of your Savior, you are bringing His power, light, and hope to many others!

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for being my constant and unchanging source. Help me to stand firm in uncertainty by anchoring myself in you.

Is there an area of life in which you’ve been working and striving when God is asking you to simply stand?
