A Different Set of Rules

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ ” – Isaiah 30:21 God calls us to live by a different set of rules than many of the enemies and competitors we encounter—in life, business, school, music, or art. As believers, we are guided by principles that truly work, even when they seem counterintuitive. I encourage you to trust that God’s ways—whether you’re fighting, winning, or simply living—lead to better outcomes. Resist the temptation to fight with the same methods as Goliath. One of the key lessons in the story of David and Goliath is that what appears big and intimidating is often slow and fragile. With the benefit of hindsight, I can see this in major companies I once admired during my time in business school—Lehman Brothers, Blockbuster, Kodak, Sears, Enron, K-Mart.
