“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” – Proverbs 15:1 Today, I want to share how being aware of what people are going through and being sensitive to their pain enables us to love as Jesus did. I want to talk about how we can become a life-giving presence in relationships with others — be gentle.  In our world, it seems that we have gotten more and more harsh with each other. Whether in politics or religion, people have become violent in their rhetoric and language. When we get in a fight with our spouse or get angry at the guy who cut us off in traffic, many of us tend to respond angrily and with a mean spirit. However, this is not helping us as a society. Be Gentle

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” – Ephesians 4:2 When following Jesus, sometimes when He touches our lives and moves in our hearts, we think Why is He doing this? Why is this happening to me? But you can trust Him; you can trust His process. Most importantly, you can trust His teaching and His ways, even when they may not make sense. While the world is saying hate your enemy, gossip about them, get back at them, shut them out … Jesus is saying forgive them and love them. When you get in an argument with your spouse and the world tells you to put your foot down and make sure you get your way, Jesus says to forgive and work through it with them and love them, be gentle in spirit, and check your ego.
