“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love endures forever.” -Psalm 107:1
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love endures forever.” -Psalm 107:1
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” -Exodus 20:17 Coveting means to desire with intent. Today, a more contemporary word for coveting is entitlement. Entitlement: I deserve that promotion and they don’t, they bend the rules to get what they want, it’s not fair that they have that and I don’t. Coveting and entitlement poisons the heart and will never give you what you think it will give you. You are not a grumpy, entitled, envious person; you are a grateful, joyful, life-giving, encouraging person. You’re the type of person that people can celebrate with. So do not fall into the trap of getting mad at others because they have a state of being, or they have things that you want to have. Let it go
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” -Colossians 3:15
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 A lot of people are trying to prove themselves and trying to make a legacy and trying to be a hero, but you aren’t. You are learning to slow down and learn what the scripture says. Jesus says, “Rest. Come to me. All you who are weary and burdened.” Do you feel weary and burdened? Jesus says come to me if you’re weary and burdened and I will give you rest. For I am gentle and humble of heart. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me and I will give you rest for your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. You can let go today of having to prove yourself to the world, or prove yourself to anybody. God’s proud of you and I’m proud
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” -Romans: 1-2
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:29-30 Our world is so stressed out. Not you, though, right? You’re not stressed, but everybody else out there… they’re stressed. Everybody’s so busy. Always hurried. Our society is not only busy, it seems to have made “being busy” a virtue, somehow. If I say to you on the phone, “‘I know you’re super busy,” it’s a compliment, isn’t it? But if I say to you, “I know your calendar is wide open, you probably don’t have anything to do.” That’s pretty much an insult, isn’t it? In our culture, being busy, having a cluttered schedule, never resting, always going, and never stopping is the right way. But walking in rest and rhythms, saying
“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 1:4-6
“He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -2 Thessalonians 2:14
“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.” -Psalm 103:1
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” -James 5:16
