His Plan for the World

“He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” – Ephesians 1:9,10 Did you know God’s plan for the world is: “On earth as it is in Heaven,” and that He chose you to be a part of it? If you grew up Christian, you’ve probably prayed that well-known prayer a million times. Matthew 6:10 states: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” When you think of Heaven, do you think of sick, angry, or mean people not belonging? Of course not. Eternal life is not just living forever; it’s the quality of God’s life here and now. It’s the life where God is moving for you, even if

Enter Into Eternal Life

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 As we conclude our series on eternal living, we have one final aspect to celebrate: Eternal living is forever, it’s an eternal life. Entering into eternal life doesn’t require any effort. It’s a gift that was given to you the moment you said yes to Jesus. If you haven’t made this decision, today is a great day to become a Christian. You can choose to become a believer in the good news and in Christ. Today is a great day to say, “Lord, I trust you with my life.” When this life is over, you’ll be there with Him. Your time on earth is composed of precious moments; to grow, to be at peace, to be full of the breath of

Follow God for the Reward

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:24-25 Have you ever asked yourself, “Should I follow God for the reward?” I’ve been asked this question before, and the answer is, “Yes, of course!” There are so many references to the reward in the Bible. In Malachi, God tells us that there is a reward for tithing. In Deuteronomy, God states there’s a great reward for those who follow the commands, including full barns, and healthy flocks; you’ll be above and not beneath, the head and not the tail. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus uses the word “reward” over and over. In Western thinking, there is a concept that implies we have

Ignore the Dream Destroyers

“Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” – Ephesians 5:15-17 Today, I am excited to continue talking to you about dreams and dreamers. If we want to achieve our dreams and live a great life, discipleship is the doorway through which we enter into the kind of life we’ve always dreamt of. It won’t be perfect and there will be suffering and challenges, but what God offers us through discipleship is a reward He calls eternal life. The mistake we make is to limit eternal life to just heaven. Eternal life is also the quality of God’s life now, in the present, and this includes our dreams. God is a dreaming God and He gives people dreams; it’s all throughout

I Know What I Can Change

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might,” – Ecclesiastes 9:10a I ask myself Who is in charge of the world? Many of us are starting to ask that same question. With COVID and big pharma, and now a looming war, nuclear prospects, and even before that, weird happenings all over the global network, it begs the question. If there’s some weird conspiracy theory to control the world, if some group is taking over, there’s one thing I know: There’s not a lot I can do about it.  Do you know what I can change? Do you know what you can change? I can change what I say to people in the world around me. I can change my habits. I can change my thoughts. I can change the way I treat people. I can change the things I consume. If I do life with Jesus,

Make Christ the Center of Your Life

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ ” – John 14:6 As a pastor, I have officiated hundreds of weddings. At one point in time, I was doing four weddings per weekend. As you know, these celebrations are a beautiful thing! One trend I have noticed lately is how expensive they have become. I wonder how families are able to spend tens of thousands of dollars on these costly weddings. Can they really afford them?   Then I began to think of something else. In this age of Pinterest and Instagram, Are people thinking more about the wedding than the marriage? Weddings are important and they should be memorable, beautiful, lovely, and special. But when you think of a couple in preparation for marriage, if they spend more time communicating about the wedding versus the marriage, this

The Abundance of God

“You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.” – Psalm 65:11 Very often, we think about the gift we receive in salvation being strictly in the context of Heaven, and that is important. However, it’s also important to remember that in Jewish culture, being blessed meant more than inheriting eternal life at death. Deuteronomy 28:5 says, “Your kneading baskets will be filled, and your crops will grow.” And Psalm 27:13 declares that we “…will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Clearly then, God’s heart toward people has always been one of abundance. He delights in giving good gifts to His children in the here and now, and He is honored when we expect Him to deliver on His promises. He is not a “survival mode” kind of Savior — He’s the overflowing, never-ending, all-sufficient King of the Universe, and
