Execute!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” –  Joshua 1:9 Yesterday, I made the point that by committing ourselves so clearly to our actions of faith, we reinforce our decisions and set ourselves on a new path. That’s what Elisha, the one who was to follow in the footsteps of the prophet Elijah, did. He took all of his wealth, which included his cattle and plow, and slaughtered his oxen. He then chopped up all of his valuable wooden equipment and had a huge barbecue, serving the meat to all of his neighbors. What was he saying? I’m not coming back. I have nothing to come back to; I’m taking action. I’m going to follow the prophet, and I’m going to become a new person, a new creation.
