From End to Beginning

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” – Revelation 22:13 As we wrap up our discussion on faith, here’s an interesting thought for you to meditate on: God has already written the final chapter of your life. The Lord stands outside of time and He sees your story in its fullness. In fact, He writes from end to beginning and everything in-between is part of getting you to where He has destined you to be! Isn’t that a great thought?  Although you read a novel from start to finish, you always have the luxury of turning to the final chapter to see how it all turns out. While you don’t exactly have that option in life, knowing the character of the One writing the story enables you to get a glimpse of how it will end. In fact, because the

Goodness and Love Follow You!

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:4-6 Today, we’re going to continue our verse-by-verse breakdown of Psalm 23, as we examine and meditate on the sufficiency we have in Jesus.  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. No matter what you go through, like the King James version says, even if death hovers over you, you have nothing to be afraid of. There is absolutely no place you can go where

The Power of Focus

“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.” – Romans 1:21,22 Today, I want to talk to you about the power of focus. According to the dictionary, focus means “the center of interest or activity,” and I want to assert that when you keep your eyes fixed and focused on Jesus, everything else will work out the way it’s supposed to. As you make Him the center of your attention, He will loosen your grip on yourself and allow you to show agape love to others, even when they disappoint you or don’t give you what you need.

Expand your World

“I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.” – Psalm 50:9,10 Yesterday we talked about how we as human beings are minds above all else and we discussed how the way we think about God has the power to totally transform us and the world around us. Today, I want to talk about another aspect of our thinking that can either empower or stifle us — how we think about ourselves.  I believe that self-obsession is the major problem in the world today. Now, I want to be careful here because I’m not talking about a kind of overly-pious religiosity that says that I shouldn’t have a self at all — I fully believe in self care. However, I am convinced that death to self, although it

As Long as It Is Called Today

“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” – Hebrews 3:13 Happy New Year! And congratulations, you made it to 2021. I think many of us are breathing a sigh of relief today, but the truth is that we are much stronger, wiser, and all-around better people than we were this time last year. Walking through the fire and enduring the difficulties of 2020 offered us a precious gift, and I pray that we won’t lose sight of it in the days ahead. As we look forward to resuming life as normal (whenever and whatever it is), let’s not forget how precious it was to be reminded of what’s most important. As we’ve brought our focus closer to home in the past ten months, God has used a trying time to align our hearts with
