God is Sufficient in Your Finances

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 Yesterday we talked about living in a culture of fear that causes our world to shrink instead of expand. Today, I want to share with you a specific example of how society encourages fear in our finances. When I was in college, I got my first credit card. My mom thought it would be a good idea for me to have this card in case of any emergencies. She didn’t want me to not have money to pay for a hamburger or to fill my gas tank, so she instructed me to use it as needed. Ah yes, I remember the day I got that shiny new Discover card in the mail — it felt like I had just won the lottery! It was a live card and I

Generosity Equals Gratitude

“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” –  2 Corinthians 9:10,11 Today, I’d like to share some thoughts on generosity and giving with you. My parents instilled in me the value of tithing or giving the first ten percent of my income to God’s work, as I grew up. I am a firm believer in it, and while I don’t believe the percentage is as important as the amount you sacrifice, I have seen Jesus respond to generosity on numerous occasions. We can and will see Him expand our territory and open the floodgates of blessing as we move from the

He is Our Shepherd

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” – Psalm 23:1-3 We will be looking at Psalm 23 for the next few days as we continue talking about living a life without lack and having everything we need in the sufficiency of God’s Kingdom. I encourage you to memorize individual Psalm verses as we go through them so you may dwell on them and truly let their truth sink into your spirit! The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. We have a good Shepherd and in His love, we have everything that we need. He makes me lie down in green pastures. Sheep lie down in green meadows when they have had enough to eat. A pasture is where flocks

A Life With Open Hands

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.” – Psalm 90:17 Here are some uplifting thoughts to consider as you begin your day: Within Himself, God is all-sufficient; He is all-joyous, all-powerful, and all-loving. There is no one in the world who is happier than the Lord. Even better, He is thinking of you, knows your name, and can count the number of hairs on your head! Wow! I know my children and adore them, but I can assure you that I have no idea how many hairs they have on their heads. Nonetheless, Jesus pays attention to these details. He is close by, not far away, and He possesses all of the money, time, energy, and power required on this planet. Even more, He wants to be constantly connected to you,

His Eye is On You

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” – Psalm 139:7-10 Yesterday, I shared one of my most memorable Rancho Capistrano stories, and today, I’m reminded of another one. On a different Friday, when I was at the ranch praying and communing with Jesus, Pastor Russ Jacobson needed to reach me. However, as is often the case when I’m seeking solitude, my phone was off. Since he couldn’t text me or call me, he used a feature that Apple offers called “Find My Friends,” which enabled him to see my

The Overflow

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” – Psalm 23:5 Have you ever had a drink that’s so full to the top that you have to walk slowly to ensure that it doesn’t spill over? If so, then you understand the image that the Bible uses to describe the abundance that the Lord gives to us. Like that overflowing cup, God not only provides what we need to get by in life, but He gives us excessively more. Even in the midst of adversity and affliction, His grace gushes like a fountain, and He constantly fills our souls, minds, and spirits with His bounty. Being reminded of this is especially important after we’ve navigated the shock of a world-wide pandemic that has subjected millions to extreme loss. While we’re still dealing with the lingering effects of
