God’s plan

Become a Conqueror

“It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.” – Romans 4:13 I have a great question for you today: Is it ever too late for God to turn someone into a conqueror? The answer is no! At any age, we can wake up and choose to embrace a new vision or calling from God. For instance, Abraham, the Hebrew patriarch, was 75 years old when he received the promise to be the father of many nations. He was 100 years old when that promise was birthed through his son Issac. I would love to find out how Abraham kept up his vigor, and what his routine of vitamins, healthy food, and exercise was!  In addition, Moses was 80 years old when he saw the burning bush, and God

Brave People

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6 Today I want to talk about an unusual revelation I had last week as I was working through the scriptures. For brave people, fear is actually a gift. You’ll hear many sermons about how fear corrupts, and it does, or how fear can paralyze us and yes, it can. But if you’re brave, and I think you are, there’s also a gift in it. When you’re courageous and receive a dream in your heart from God, that dream may cause you to feel overwhelmed and unsure of yourself. But take note that God’s plan for you may seem massive, but it’s good.  At times, insecurity may keep even a brave person up at night. You may be afraid

His Plan for the World

“He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” – Ephesians 1:9,10 Did you know God’s plan for the world is: “On earth as it is in Heaven,” and that He chose you to be a part of it? If you grew up Christian, you’ve probably prayed that well-known prayer a million times. Matthew 6:10 states: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” When you think of Heaven, do you think of sick, angry, or mean people not belonging? Of course not. Eternal life is not just living forever; it’s the quality of God’s life here and now. It’s the life where God is moving for you, even if

Ticking Clocks

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” – Psalm 27:13,14 Have you ever stopped to think about what the planet would be like without clocks? Void of the tick, tick, tick and gong, gong, gong, how different would our lives be? Years ago, Hannah and I were traveling with Chad and Hillary Blake doing ministry work in Europe, and we ended our trip with a couple days of rest and recreation in Prague. Probably one of the most beautiful cities on earth, it happens to be the home of the world’s oldest operating astronomical clock. Dating from the Medieval Age and commissioned in 1410, this magnificent timepiece features a show called “The Walk of the Apostles,” in which Apostles and various figures move across

Life-Changing Shakeups

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” – Proverbs 19:21 Many years ago, when I was a young teenager, I was living with my mom, stepdad, and siblings in the San Fernando Valley area of L.A. Early one morning, our house began to shake, and though it started as just a tremor, it soon became a jolting and violent roar. Turns out it was the Northridge quake of 1994, and it ended up destroying numerous buildings and killing 60 people. My parents owned a real estate appraisal company then (they still do, in fact), and after the quake, there was practically no business to be had. The property market came to a screeching halt, and it was as if time stood still in Southern California. Since there was little work for my folks, our family scrimped and ate soup for weeks

Don’t Waver!

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23 Today, I want to encourage you not to waver, wait, or wander when it comes to walking out God’s plan for your life. In the Old Testament, the Lord told Moses again and again that great and mighty things would happen through him if he agreed to lead the Israelites out of slavery. However, being stubborn and full of self-doubt, he said no four times and offered a laundry list of excuses as to why he shouldn’t be the one to rescue his people from the hand of Egyptians. His refusal caused God’s anger to burn against him, yet the Lord remained gentle and merciful, constantly affirming that He would go before him. Even better, he commissioned his brother Aaron to speak on his behalf so he wouldn’t have to worry about
