He Sees the Heart

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’ .” – 1 Samuel 16:7 Jesus told a wonderful parable about a rich, powerful man who put together an amazing banquet. Everyone hearing this story would assume he sent out invitations, like you would if you were planning a wedding. The invitations were limited to a select group of people. They could RSVP yes or no when they received the invitation. There was much excitement for those who said yes to the invitation. It’s banquet time, and the rabbis use imagery to tell a funny story!
