“Truly I tell you,’ he continued, ‘no prophet is accepted in his hometown.’” – Luke 4:24 Right after Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness for 40 days, He launched His earthly ministry and returned to Galilee. He began teaching in local synagogues and performing many miracles so that word about Him spread throughout the whole region. However, when He entered His hometown of Nazareth, the reception was not as positive. On the Sabbath, He went into the sanctuary — presumably the same one He had been in hundreds of times growing up — and began reading a passage from the prophet Isaiah, after which He boldly proclaimed that He was its fulfillment.
