ROCK4CHOC: Hour of Power in the Community

At Shepherd’s Grove and Hour of Power, we strive to share God’s love and dignity with the people in the 15 feet of space around us. We’re excited for the opportunity to donate our campus on Sunday, August 5th from 4-7 pm, for ROCK4CHOC, a concert to benefit Children’s Hospital of Orange County. CHOC Children’s does incredible work for kids and families dealing with health crises. Every year, they host the CHOC Walk in the Park — a fundraiser walk held at Disneyland that brings in people from all over the country to raise money for these families. Many walkers have children, friends, or family members that have been or are currently treated by CHOC, while some walk in honor of someone who has passed away. Teams are compromised of many people from Orange County, including Team DAPS Magic, which has a number of Hour of Power staff that participate.

How long have you been with the ministry? Almost 5 years. What do you do for Shepherd’s Grove? I am the Shepherd’s Grove Church Administrator. How did God bring you to the ministry? How much time do you have? *Christine shared her entire story in a previous blog that you can view here. What is your favorite part about working here? I love this job. Besides the fact that I am working for God, I have to say my co-workers are the most amazing people on the planet. Do you have an impactful story to share from your job? Too many to count. This ministry means so much to so many. God uses Bobby to give people hope and love. His messages deeply impact the lives of our viewers and church members. Moving, and Moving Forward

By Cameron D. Jackson, Donor Relations Ladies and gentlemen, my back hurts. And I’m pretty happy about that. As you are no doubt aware, Hour of Power and Shepherd’s Grove are moving to a beautiful location in Irvine. The last couple of weeks have seen our first church services and recordings at our new home, which has been an absolutely monumental feat, to say the least. But we’re not done yet! We have staff, desks, filing cabinets, files (lots and lots of files), and a few dozen other odds and ends to move. Thus, my back hurts. As to the happy part? Well… The big words buzzing around my head during this move have been “good stewardship.” The search for this new location began as a desire to save. We’ve been leasing the property we’ve been using, and the price has gone up significantly. To be perfectly transparent, the running

How long have you been with the ministry? I started work here September of 1994 – so about 24 years. What do you do for Hour of Power? I am a Ministry Ambassador, which means I get to communicate with our donors on a daily basis. Inspiring work, I truly enjoy and love it. How did God bring you to the ministry? Long story but here goes… I was going through an extremely sad divorce. I was going to my 1st court hearing at Lamoreaux Justice Center in Orange County. I was horrified, sad, and broken-hearted. I felt this extreme need for God like I had never felt before! I needed guidance, comfort and strength. I remember feeling sick, nauseous and weak at the knees. It was my first time in the Garden Grove, so I wasn’t familiar with the area. I was driving around and got lost while looking

How long have you been with the ministry? Just over a year — and I have loved it! What do you do for Hour of Power? I do Hour of Power Communications. If we need writing, social media, photography, or blogging, I’m the gal! How did God bring you to the ministry? About a year and a half ago, I was working at Disneyland I needed a roommate fast. I ended up finding one on a kinda sketchy website, but she was awesome and a Christian. Soon after, she referred me to my current job. It definitely felt like a “God thing” for me to be placed in a house with her, and later at Shepherd’s Grove! I never thought I would be working in ministry, but now looking back, I can see it was all part of His beautiful plan! What is your favorite part about working here? I

How long have you been with the ministry? I have worked for the ministry for a year and a half, but have been a part of the church for about 15 years, since I was 5. What do you do for Hour of Power? I am a Data Entry Clerk for the Hour of Power. I also work with the youth ministry and children’s ministry. How did God bring you to the ministry? Through that, we also became involved at the church. What is your favorite part about working here? How long have you been with the ministry? 10 years (Technically since March, 2008. Not made “official” until June, 2008) What do you do for Shepherd’s Grove? I am the Facilities Manager. I directly oversee the Security & Facilities departments and indirectly oversee Maintenance, Utilities, and Event Coordination.   How did God bring you to the ministry? I discovered an ad at Santa Ana College for a minimum wage job working part-time in the Gift Shop/Bookstore at Crystal Cathedral. It paid too little money, was not enough hours, and was NOT the type of job I was looking for but God told me to go for it because you never know where it will lead. When I went for the interview, the Human Resources lady told me she thought I’d be much better suited for a position with the Hour of Power called “Detail/Correspondence”, which DID pay what I needed and

ROCK4CHOC: Hour of Power in the Community

Here at Shepherd’s Grove / Hour of Power, we strive to be active and compassionate members of our local community. We have been given the opportunity to donate our facilities for an evening, this upcoming Thursday, for ROCK4CHOC, a concert to benefit Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The concert will feature Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, who you might remember performed here on Bluegrass Sunday. As many of you know, our very own Cohen Schuller has been treated at CHOC, which is just one reason why this is a wonderful chance to get involved in the community around us. This concert correlates with CHOC Walk in the Park, which takes place later this month. Team DAPs Magic, which consists of numerous Shepherd’s Grove and Hour of Power staff members and attendees, has organized this event exclusively with CHOC. Preceding the concert, there will be light refreshments, a silent auction, and
