Let it Go

What Forgiveness Is

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” – Isaiah 30:18 As we conclude our series on forgiveness and now that we’ve covered what forgiveness is not and how we can set boundaries in the process of letting go, I want to talk about what forgiveness really is. Forgiveness is entrusting justice to God. Forgiveness is acknowledging that a person hurt or wounded you, but then choosing to let it go. You’re not going to forget what happened or say it was okay, but you’re going to wish the best for the person who harmed you. As you release them you are going to pray for God to bless them and ask that He would turn their heart around and that they would find His

Surrender to Him

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.” – Psalm 118:8 Have you ever been backed into a corner? Maybe you were unjustly accused or forced to take responsibility for something that wasn’t your fault. Perhaps you are facing a great obstacle in your life, such as a serious illness or the threat of losing your home or business. Even if you are staring death in the face, I want to encourage you today that God can turn your situation around for good. The key to experiencing His blessing and power is to relinquish your desire to take control. In other words, you must surrender.  In the Kingdom of God, what He invites us to is often the opposite of what feels right or seems natural. Carried by His Currents

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” – John 3:8 We talked about how the winters in our lives provide us with force and strength the other day. Today, I want to remind you that a winter storm is always blown away by the wind, ushering in a new season. You can feel the Holy Spirit blowing through you as you grow in your connection with Jesus, just like the grass moves with the power of fresh breeze. As you become closer to Him, you’ll be able to hear His voice more clearly and understand where He’s taking you, but with the knowledge that He’ll be the one driving you. If you find yourself lying awake at night wondering what you should have done or

Don’t Live in Pain

“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” – Mark 11:25 Forgiving is hard, in general. And forgiving is especially hard when the wound is really deep. Maybe you’re here today and you still haven’t forgiven the person who wounded you so deeply: who sued you, who took your business away from you, who unjustly fired you and ruined your life. Maybe you’re here today and you had an abusive dad. You needed a loving dad; you needed a dad who was there for you that hugged you, that tucked you in at night. Instead, he beat you and called you names. Maybe you had a drunk mom who was never there for you and you needed a nurturing, caring, loving, supportive mom. She just didn’t care about you. Maybe you have or had a violent
