Life Is a Giving Contest
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38 A few weeks ago, I wrote a simple thought in my journal that keeps returning to me: Life is a giving contest. Everything gets better when you give, and worse when you stop. The greatest business partnerships are not built on keeping score, but on each partner striving to outgive the other. In strong marriages, each spouse focuses not on what they receive, but on how much they can give—always aiming to give more than their partner. The best teams are formed when every member is eager to contribute more to the company, community, or cause. When you give generously to your friends, it often comes back to you many times over.
