Ready, Fire, Aim

“Put your outdoor work in order and get your fields ready; after that, build your house.” – Proverbs 24:27 “Ready, fire, aim,” seems out of sequence, doesn’t it? Of course we are all familiar with the well-known expression “Ready, aim, fire.” Put in a different context, it’s my opinion that “Ready, fire, aim” is the best way to live your life. It’s a Schuller habit I have adopted in my life. I think that there is something about being ready — you feel a little bit more prepared when you are ready. When it comes to fire, you do what needs to be done. If you miss your aim, you go back and you correct what you have done wrong. As we discussed yesterday, it is essential that you act upon the knowledge that you have gained and apply it to your daily life. As a result of this action,

Perseverance

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4 I love the word perseverance. Defined as “persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success,” I believe this powerful character trait is of utmost importance as we stand on the threshold of a new year. Though the verses above may be familiar to you, there’s something in them Hannah pointed out to me that I think is very significant. Look at the phrase, “let perseverance finish its work.” Did you notice that it’s passive? In other words, without interference, perseverance will have its way in your life, and you will get to where you’re supposed to be. But why would you not

In His Time

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” – Hebrews 10:36 A few days ago, we talked about how twists and turns in the course of our life can frustrate us. We may feel like we are moving further away from our destiny instead of closer to it.
