Wisdom for a Worry-free Life

“And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” – Luke 12:29-31 Jesus has a practical solution for worry. He instructs us to seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all will be delivered to us. I recently heard this great line by a pastor: “Why pray when you can worry.” We see the humor in this, don’t we? Many of us are hoping to get a break from our worries. Since he carried such great influence at the temple, any negative words uttered publicly might have done damage, so the angel thought it wise to keep him from speaking until the miracle had actually occurred. Jealousy Perverts Justice

“When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.” – Matthew 2:16 It’s strange that the account of a neurotic king like Herod offers so many object lessons to Christians, but in a world that’s obsessed with image and achievement, it behooves us to pay attention to his story.
