Seeing Through Problems

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” – 1 Corinthians 13:12 We often view events with 2-D vision, seeing only what’s obvious on the surface. It’s important to develop 3-D vision—looking beyond our senses. In the 90s, stereograms were popular: scrambled images that, if stared at long enough, revealed a hidden picture. They were everywhere—at malls, in stores, on binders, in books, and many other places—but I struggled to see what others could in those puzzles. After attempting to decipher the image, I decided that they were a hoax… until a friend committed to teaching me how to decipher them. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” – 1 Corinthians 13:12 As we look at the unfolding of events around us, I think it’s our default to have 2-D vision, meaning that we see only what’s obvious and behold primarily what’s happening on the surface. Yet especially in times like these, it’s important to develop 3-D vision — the type that enables us to look beyond what we observe with our senses.
