Hour of Power Cares About Kenya

By Megan Ewbank  Over the past few months, Our Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller team has been meeting, planning, and dreaming as we were seeking God’s call on how to further reach people … not only on the air but on the ground, as well! We are calling this initiative Hour of Power Cares, and we’re really excited about it. We are working to aid and encourage our own community in Orange County, but since we’re a global ministry as well, we wanted to do something on a global scale. And through much divine connection, we felt strongly that God was leading us to Kenya.  With a little trepidation and a lot of joy,  a member of our awesome staff,  Amber, and myself, embarked on a long journey to Africa. We spent two weeks in July meeting and getting to know our brothers and sisters in Christ all over Kenya. First,

ROCK4CHOC: Hour of Power in the Community

Here at Shepherd’s Grove / Hour of Power, we strive to be active and compassionate members of our local community. We have been given the opportunity to donate our facilities for an evening, this upcoming Thursday, for ROCK4CHOC, a concert to benefit Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The concert will feature Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, who you might remember performed here on Bluegrass Sunday. As many of you know, our very own Cohen Schuller has been treated at CHOC, which is just one reason why this is a wonderful chance to get involved in the community around us. This concert correlates with CHOC Walk in the Park, which takes place later this month. Team DAPs Magic, which consists of numerous Shepherd’s Grove and Hour of Power staff members and attendees, has organized this event exclusively with CHOC. Preceding the concert, there will be light refreshments, a silent auction, and

Hour of Power CARES – A New Initiative

In the decades since Dr. Robert H. Schuller began sharing  Hour of Power with the world, we have seen some pretty incredible things. Lives have been transformed by the healing power of God’s message of love and dignity! We have continued in that proud tradition, and our positive thinking has led us to this next wonderful, inspired effort: Hour of Power Cares. As Bobby Schuller now so often says, we are called to affect the “fifteen feet of space around us,” positively impacting the lives of those we encounter. As an international ministry, reaching millions every week, our proverbial “fifteen feet” stretches to all corners of the globe! With Hour of Power Cares, we look to provide love and dignity by supplying for needs, both spiritual and practical, in our own backyard of Orange County, CA, and across many nations and peoples. Of course, we have many efforts already underway,

From the Desk of: Executive Pastor Chad Blake

I am incredibly honored to serve as the Executive Pastor of Shepherd’s Grove and to be a part of an international ministry through Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller. As the Executive Pastor, I have the privilege of serving the local church by overseeing all of the pastors, ministries, and activities of the church. There is a lot that goes on in a church our size, so I am so thankful for my great team – I couldn’t do it without them.  I truly work with the best people. My journey to Shepherd’s Grove began about six years ago, when I first met Bobby at The Gathering, his church plant at the time. We quickly became friends. Throughout the years, God has taken us on quite the journey as The Gathering became Tree of Life, and eventually, Tree of Life merged with Shepherd’s Grove. Throughout this process, I’ve been overwhelmed

“People Get Ready”: Get Ready, Your Chance is Coming

On Sunday April 30, 2017, Rory Deming and Josh Elmore graced the Shepherd’s Grove and Hour of Power stage with an inspirational rendition of the powerful Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready,” accompanied by the Hour of Power orchestra. “People Get Ready” has a powerful story in terms of its historical significance. It was written by Mayfield in the year after the March on Washington. Its release also followed the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham. During this painful time, a message of forgiveness and optimism burned brightly through Mayfield’s writings. The significance of this rings true through its lyrics: People get ready, there’s a train a-comin’ You don’t need no baggage, you just get on board Each word extending beyond societal differences throughout time, the song delivers a message of redemption for all. It encourages those who feel lost

The Power During the Hour That You Do Not See! As the familiar strains of “Joyful Joyful” fill the Sanctuary signaling the start of Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller, the power of God’s Holy Spirit is also at work in other places on the campus of Shepherd’s Grove. In our Sprouts Children’s Ministry, our nursery and preschool are learning about “The Giant Picnic” – the feeding of the 5000 – through music, video, puppet shows and crafts.  They are in a lesson series called “All About Jesus”. Our kindergarten through 5th-grade children just finished a great, two-week Easter Eggstravaganza and now are in the middle of Zooplosion – an eight-week series of lessons where animals are a part of the Bible story.  Kids have fun in our pre-session room and then head into the Zooplosion Theater for music and learning programs.  Then, they finish up in their small group

This Week on Hour of Power

Pastor Bobby begins a new message series called: “I Am –Knowing God by Name.” In this series, Bobby will teach on what it means to carry the name of the Lord and what the different Old Testament names for Yahweh mean for you.  Today’s message: “Yahweh Bore: I Am Your Creator. You Are My Sons and Daughters.” We are so happy to have Natasha Bure with us, a highly recognizable face on social media with an amazing vocal talent to back it up. Natasha has kept very busy with competing on “The Voice,” designing jewelry, modeling, blogging, and has somehow found time to write a book entitled, Let’s Be Real. Natasha’s book is available wherever books are sold. Today, Natasha performs, “You’re Beautiful” (comp: Phil Wickham). She is accompanied by the Hour of Power Orchestra. Directed by Michael Skidgel, the Hour of Power Choir performs “Unclouded Day” (comp: Rev. J.K.
