“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;” – Proverbs 3:5 When you are new to the faith, God understands your need to see something. To solidify your faith, you may need to see the water part like the red sea, or a miracle to occur quickly. As we grow older in the faith, God asks us to be bigger than that — to believe first. It is a matter of trusting Him. Whenever we say, “I have to keep seeing” we’re really saying, “I don’t believe.” Imagine a wife who demands that her husband show her a list of everything he did all day when he comes home from work. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.” – Isaiah 26:3,4 I love that the Bible says to “cease striving.” Yet with the achievement-oriented mentality many of us have, we feel like this is possible only after we’ve overcome every obstacle, been healed from all our hangups, and finished whatever is on our to-do list.
