Two by Two

“But Moses said, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.’ ” – Exodus 4:13 Moses’ final excuse for refusing God’s call is simple: “Please send someone else.” Deep down, he feels unworthy and believes it’s too late for him. Many of us can relate—life’s responsibilities, such as our job, mortgage, or family, make us think opportunities have passed us by. Moses sees himself as old and exhausted, caring for someone else’s flock, but God sees something more. Though God’s frustration grows,  He offers a solution. God tells Moses, “I’ll give you Aaron, and Aaron will go with you.” That makes all the difference. Sometimes, what we need most is not to go alone. Even Jesus sent His disciples out in pairs—never alone—even when He withheld provisions, sending them out with no sandals, no food, no money, and no sword, or into danger.
