Your Ability to Respond
“The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.” – Proverbs 15:28 An important life lesson can be learned from the experiences of Viktor Frankl, an Austrian neurologist, psychologist, philosopher, and Holocaust survivor. As a Jewish man who endured suffering in Nazi concentration camps, he reflected on his losses, saying, “The Nazis took everything from me. They took my family, my wealth, my education, and my job. However, there was one thing they could not take away from me: my ability to respond and how I chose to respond to them.” In this way, he recognized that he had a choice in his reactions. You have the power to make choices. You can choose to pray, to read, to visit and serve others, or simply to extend an act of love. These choices are essential responses that will change the world for good!
