“‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.’”
– Malachi 3:10
![]() The only place in the whole Bible anywhere, in like thousands of pages of text that God says ‘test me’ is right here. “Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to store it.” That’s pretty cool. “I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe, says the Lord Almighty. Then all the nations will call you blessed for yours will be a delightful land, says the Lord Almighty.” Very clearly in the context of Malachi, it says that the way we return to the Lord is through our generosity. Through generosity. It’s amazing that God even says that, test me in this. It actually echoes what Jesus is.‘God says test me in this, that if you give your tithes and offerings, I will pour out so much blessing in your life there won’t be enough room to contain it.’ |
Prayer
God, that you for being a God of promise. Thank you for always coming through on what you say you will. We can test you, and you will always provide. Help me to be courageous enough to give. You will provide.
