“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
-Galatians 6:8
I’ve seen this happen repeatedly – people really struggling in business or in life or in their careers, and they just can’t seem to get a break. It’s just one thing after another. The coin toss always falls on tails, the wrong side, the one they didn’t call. The tipping point never comes. They continue to push and they always wonder, “Where is that breakthrough?”
In the book, Good to Great, author Jim Collins says that when most business people are asked why they succeeded in business, their number one answer is “luck.” They say they worked hard, but then this lucky thing just happened. What do we call luck in Christianity? We call it a blessing.
I believe that the blessing – whether it’s in business or your career or other parts or your life – it’s very often the result of your generosity. Your generosity is like planting seeds. And your reaping of that reward is reaping what you’ve done in your past.
So don’t stop giving, whether it is to your church or to another charity that you love. Give wherever God leads you.
Prayer: Dear Lord, all the blessings I receive come from you. Show me where to bless others. Amen.
Reflection: How have you helped to plant seeds of faith in others?
