“And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.”
– 1 Corinthians 12:28
My Grandpa Schuller understood that not everyone is assigned the same mission, and he had the wisdom to recognize that no single individual can fulfill the totality of ambassadorship. Just as ambassadors and their consulates understand the boundaries of their responsibilities and trust a team of specialists to help them accomplish their objectives, we, too, are called to discern our Kingdom strengths and to depend on other members within the Body to refine and complement us. Whether we are sent to evangelize, disciple, exhort, encourage, or demonstrate love through service, each of us is uniquely commissioned and empowered to bring the virtues of Heaven to earth in our own distinct ways. My friend, you serve a vital part in the consulate of God’s Kingdom, and your Savior has appointed you as His representative in a uniquely personal way. You are equipped with gifts that the world urgently needs, and your calling as His ambassador is the highest honor you will ever receive. He will use you to touch lives in ways you may never fully realize until you stand face-to-face with Jesus. |
Prayer
Jesus, reveal to me the role I play in Your Kingdom and empower me to carry it out as I place full confidence in Your character.
Reflection
What is your role in the consulate of God’s Kingdom? How is it unique?
