“Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”

– Matthew 10:38,39

One thing about becoming a Christian is there is a price to pay, but the cost is worth it. The good news is that the biggest price was already paid by Jesus, but there’s another price we pay, and that is the cross that we must take up. It’s easy to look at that price and say, “That’s expensive. It’s expensive to forgive people, it’s expensive to spend my time studying scripture, or to be part of a church.” But if we don’t do these things, there is also a downside. In other words, the “cost” is worth it!

I remember when I just started college and earned $6.25 an hour at Barnes and Noble. I received a credit card in the mail with a $1000 credit limit. My mom told me, “Bobby, you’re 18 now. I know you need some help. I’ll take care of it for you if you don’t spend more than $200.” This was a gift from Heaven! I kept a tally of my spending, but I didn’t do a very good job because when the bill arrived, it was $820! There was more to my life lesson than credit cards. I learned in life you can pay now, or you can pay later, but you always have to pay.

Friend, in order to succeed, you must be willing to pay the price. You can be all you were born to be. God is not worried about your age, lack of education, or financial situation. I believe, just as God does, that anything is possible. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you can attain the life that God has called you to!

Prayer

Father, help me to accomplish my goals by doing the work and relying on the Holy Spirit.

  1. What is the cost to forgive? What is the cost for Salvation. What is the cost for life? What is the cost? How long is the cost for sin if I sin my entire life?
