“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” -Psalm 23:6
The cross is enough. Even if your guilt is centered in immorality, your guilt should drive you to church, to God and to being a better person. If it doesn’t, then you’re failing to understand God’s love. The love of God means that you are not your sins, and you are not what you do. Instead, you are God’s beloved sons and daughters. He wants you to come to him and receive grace: to have a new heart in which you do what is right. May you never feel guilt in your life except for a brief moment that drives you into God’s arms. May your habit be that every time you feel guilty, you run into God’s love and grace. You get a break today from guilt. If you’re chained by chronic guilt, may Jesus break your chains. Just take a break today from your guilt, and walk in God’s love and embrace his goodness, and that will form you into being a moral and good person.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for being enough to break my chains of guilt. Remind me to run to you every time I’m feeling guilty.
REFLECTION: What do you feel guilty about?
