2 Chronicles 32 tells the story of Hezekiah, king of Judah. Hezekiah fortified Jerusalem, building strong walls to defend the city from the mighty Assyrian army—a force that had already conquered and utterly destroyed countless other cities. This 180,000-man army, led by King Sennacherib, inspired terror wherever it went. In stark contrast, Hezekiah commanded only about 5,000 men against Sennacherib’s overwhelming numbers. Before the battle, Hezekiah rallied his people by echoing Joshua’s words: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.”

To me, this story represents the crux of every believer: Hezekiah may have had fewer resources in the natural, but in the spirit, he saw and believed, “for there are more with us than with him.” Sennacherib, representing the enemies of God, might call this a lie. Yet, by faith, believers trust the Lord’s instructions, perceiving what Sennacherib cannot see—an army of angels ready to fight on their behalf. This spiritual vision brings courage and peace, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

My friend, just like King Hezekiah, remember that the Lord is on your side. Scripture says, “And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah, King of Judah.” Be encouraged, and let your faith in God’s Word produce rest, trust, and confidence in His ability to move on your behalf.
