“You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.”

– Job 10:12

As we continue learning about what it means to have peace and serenity in our lives, I want to share a word that I believe can help you tremendously – provision

Providence, which the dictionary defines as “the protective care of God as a spiritual power,” has its root in the word provision. This means that the very presence of the Lord in our lives proceeds from a heart that longs to provide for and protect us. It assures us that in the midst of the greatness and grandeur of the Almighty’s unfolding plan, we will be taken care of. Why? Because the One who created the world and everything in it knows how many hairs are on our heads! That’s the nature of our good Father, and it’s the basis for peace and serenity in our life and also in our death. Being made in the image of God means that we are eternal and that He will take care of us, not only on the earth, but also in Heaven, where we will live with Him forever.

Friend, God is providing for you! Even in the midst of trials and hardships, He is with you and gives you everything you need each and every day, just when you most need it. He is supplying your daily bread, He is shielding you from the storm, and He is blessing you with abundant life by the power of His Holy Spirit. No matter what you are facing, whether sickness, brokenness, grief, shame, or loneliness, Jesus is there for you and He is taking care of all the needs of your heart. I pray that knowing and meditating on that truth brings serenity to your mind and a deep, abiding peace to your soul!

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for providing for me and for knowing just what I need when I most need it. Help me to rely on your provision so my heart is at peace.

Reflection

Where do you need the Lord’s provision in your life? Take a minute to pray about that situation and thank Him that He’s already providing an answer.
