The Love of Christ Is Wide

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,”

– Ephesians 3:17,18

As we draw nearer to the end of the year, I want to continue to emphasize the importance of our relationships. The Bible says God’s love has many dimensions. Christ’s love is deep and wide. His deep love means that He knows us and loves us exactly as we are. The wide reach of His love signifies that His love is for everyone. The kind of love we should possess if we want to love like Jesus is a love that is deep and wide.

If we look at the wide aspect of Christ’s love, many of you feel you don’t do well meeting new people. It’s a skill to reach out to people and grow your network, and with that, you grow as a person. You can achieve this by reading books and listening to podcasts. But consider the way entrepreneur Jim Rohn defines 1 Samuel 16:7 which tells us God looks on the inside, but people look on the outside. Yes, this is true, but he states we must also acknowledge the importance of a good first impression. It is wise to be friendly and look presentable — you’re putting your best foot forward.

Also, don’t forget that people love to talk about themselves. Friend, when you meet someone and they say they went camping over the break, instead of saying you went camping too, show you care by asking them to tell you more about their trip! This is a way to extend Christ’s love wide and beyond yourself. With the Holy Spirit by your side, you will make a great impression and care for others.


Father, help me put others’ interests before my own.
