“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

– Isaiah 30:21

The fourth and final faith seed I would like to share is — never forget the power of rhema. In the Bible, “word” is referred to by two different words. Logos is the first word we are familiar with, and rhema is the second word. Whenever the word of God or any other word is spoken aloud, it is called a rhema word. In the Greek language, it can also mean “a spoken word,” “an utterance,” or “a saying.”

In the book of James, we are told that whoever has control over their tongue brings control over their whole body. What if that’s true? I like the idea that if all of my words are controlled, then the whole of my life, my future, and everything I care about will be under control. What if you’re running and you say one more mile! I think you’ll complete another mile. Maybe while at your favorite cafe, you’ll hear an unfamiliar voice say, “Put that cheesecake down,” and you’ll put it down. It’s important to realize that what we say to others about ourselves, even jokingly, goes into our bodies. You can also apply that to what you hear.

Friend, pay special attention to the lyrics of music, the content of podcasts, and your friends’ voices. Keep away from cynical, mean, untrustworthy, lazy, bad-mouthed, and mean-spirited people. Ensure that you align with those who carry the rhema word that aligns with God’s heart for you! Continue to receive the words that will move mountains in your life. Don’t be afraid to allow God to surround you with words and opportunities that lift you up and do not tear you down.

Prayer

Father, it is my pleasure to agree with and obey the words that will transform my heart and mind.

Reflection

Are you aware that your body can be affected by the words you hear, spoken by yourself or others?
