“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

– Genesis 50:20

To achieve the dream God put in Joseph’s heart, he had to overcome and endure many challenges and obstacles. Yesterday, I shared the struggles he faced. Today, I have an additional reflection. I learned that God doesn’t like to show us the price of our dreams. Meaning, the price will not be revealed to you by God. The dream will be shown to you, but the price will not be disclosed. You say, “That’s not fair,” and I agree with you. It’s a good thing that God works in this way because if we understood the price, we would be terrified!

Understanding the price of our dream is like explaining to a first grader that at the end of their scholastic journey they’re going to have to write a doctoral thesis. First graders would not be able to comprehend this and feel overwhelmed. However, as in life, the first grade is followed by the second, the second by the third, and so on. The problem arises when we reach the fourth grade and now we’re “checked out” mentally over the thought of having to write a doctoral thesis. Often, it’s the price, the cost, that terrifies us.

Friend, the stark reality is that Joseph wouldn’t have become a ruler if he wasn’t first a slave. Part of your path to victory is through a road of struggles, and it comes with a price. Like Joseph, you will face obstacles, but they will fuel your fire to grow! As you make a difference, you will encounter people who oppose you, but you must remain encouraged. Despite opposition, know that God will give you the strength and wisdom to overcome.

Prayer

Father, thank you for your strength and wisdom as I strive to achieve my goals.
