The Process is Bigger than the Event

“And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

– Ephesians 2:22

Yesterday we talked about the process of working towards a goal. Many times in life, we only see the “event” and not the hard work involved in getting there. Take for instance the Super Bowl. We don’t see all the practices the team went through in order to win the game, right? Or, we notice a person with great wealth, but we didn’t see them knocking on doors to build their business. Usually, we meet a person who is clean and sober, but we don’t see all the times they failed in their journey. It’s a process, but God wants us to trust His plan and timing. Oftentimes, we don’t see the process that leads up to the event, but the process is so much more important than the event itself!

There was a recent study asking Americans how they planned to retire. And 40% said their retirement plan was either to win a lawsuit or win the lottery. You have a one in 290 million chance of winning. You can’t get much closer to zero than that! Of those who win the lottery, many end up cursed. Why? The money was bigger than the person. It was an event. It was not a process that the person had to go through

Friend, we live in an action-packed, event-driven world where it is easy to focus on an event instead of the processes that lead to success. In God’s eyes, it is so important that you become bigger than the money, bigger than your job, and bigger than the next challenge. I believe that as you get a clear vision of who you’re meant to become, and if you dedicate your life to it, you can become all that you were meant to be with the help of God.

Prayer

Father, I need your help to focus on the process of fulfilling my destiny.

  1. I SOOO much appreciate your messages of devotion. I am in the process of searching for a place for my Mom who is 96 years old. We think we have found a “right” place and now are just waiting for a call from them. I have prayed and thanked God for all of the years that He marked the path for me to take in her care and I know HE WILL NOT LEAVE ME NOW.
Thank you for helping me keep my faith strong, my heart fixed on God who DOES have the answer and the way.
