In the story of Solomon, God told him, “Ask for anything, and it’s yours.” Solomon’s answer became a lesson for generations. As the new king, Solomon followed his father, King David—a legendary leader who united the tribes, made Jerusalem the capital, and brought peace. Before his death, David chose Solomon as his heir to the throne, even though Solomon was not the eldest of his many sons. This was not an easy transition.

At Solomon’s coronation, he visits Gibeon, where the Ark of the Covenant and the tabernacle are. There, he addresses his commanders, leaders, and families. As a king, he does the usual greetings and formalities, then offers a thousand sacrifices to God as worship. After the ceremonies and celebrations, he finally returns home, exhausted. Alone at night, the reality sets in—he feels the weight of his new role. Despite the excitement, Solomon faces real challenges: money problems, political issues, family conflicts, and enemies all around. Most of all, he feels the pressure of following in David’s footsteps. It’s hard to fill big shoes, and Solomon knows it.

My friend, maybe you’ve felt that way too—facing money trouble, family hardships, enemies, or the challenge of living up to someone else’s legacy. Solomon had all of these problems. Then, something incredible happens: God appears to Solomon and asks, “I’ll give you anything—what do you want?” It’s the question of a lifetime! That same question is offered to you. In your moments of challenge, God invites us to ask, trust, and partner with Him. With His provision, you can face every obstacle and overcome whatever stands in your way.
