The Spirit of God is Always Speaking

“‘Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.’ When he said this, he called out, ‘Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.’ ”

– Luke 8:8

Yesterday, we discussed how God communicates with us through our spiritual antennas. The spirit of God is always speaking and you can catch it if you tune in. The above verse is part of a parable where Jesus said that a sower (God) throws seeds almost carelessly everywhere. Guess what He says those seeds are? The seeds are words! Luke 8:5-8 describes the types of soil and harvest of those seeds. “…some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seeds fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seeds fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

I pray that God’s word falls on your good soil today. Some words will indeed be stolen by birds, some will die on rocks, and some will be choked out by thorns. However, some of you are going to hear today’s wisdom, and you’ll never be the same. It is true — when you improve, your life gets better. Your life changes when you commit to personal development, especially when you place the Word of God and Jesus Christ at the center of it.

Friend, God’s Spirit is with us. There are seeds of God’s Word all around us and in the Bible. Each day, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you through the Word of God, and you will develop the spiritual muscles to hear what He has to share!

Prayer

Father, let your words fall on the good soil of my heart and grow there.
