 Yesterday, I shared the idea that embracing responsibility is crucial for enhancing both your life and the world around you. When we take on roles such as teacher, mentor, foster parent, adoptive parent, or even pet owner, these responsibilities challenge us to grow, to become bigger and they add more value to those in a sphere of influence. We are compelled to love those who depend on us and to care for individuals who look up to us.
As I grew and evolved, I reflected on my past self when I thought, “I have the right” to lounge around and do whatever I pleased. Looking back, I regret wasting that time. It’s natural to feel this way about certain seasons in our lives, and there’s no need to feel ashamed of it. I want to share this message, especially with younger people: I didn’t do anything wrong, but I foolishly compared myself to my friends, and they were comparing themselves to me. We were trapped in an echo chamber, part of the 99%, blindly following the crowd and settling for mediocrity. Friend, the scripture states, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” I want to emphasize that the narrow way leads to Life—the life you know you were born to have. You have the chance to discover that narrow path! Commit yourself to being a devoted disciple by following Jesus on the path that leads to life. |
