Today, I want to encourage you that “The win is in the waiting.” We can describe what it means to win in life in many different ways. We often think success is when you cross the finish line or when you hit the high C note in a song. The win could be when you receive a trophy or that long-awaited promotion. Perhaps achievement is when you’re invited to perform in the place you’ve always wanted to. But the truth is, the win happens before any triumphs are accomplished. The win is becoming a person who can fulfill the successes you have longed for.
The process we endure in becoming accomplished usually happens when no one is watching. In your free time, when others are scrolling on their phones or tablets, you choose to read a book or practice your workmanship. Others may be watching TV or falling asleep on the couch, but you’re seeking out new information, expanding your network, or even better, going into a time of prayer or studying the scripture. As we wait and prepare, God will develop and create those unique characteristics in us so that we can successfully complete God’s purpose.
Friend, I want you to receive this wisdom in your heart: God is more interested in who you become than what you accomplish. If you become the right person, you can achieve anything you put your mind to. The people who complete the goals they set out to achieve have become the kinds of people who walk in success. But remember, God cares very much about who you become. That’s what being a disciple of Jesus is all about.
