“So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? So also Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

– Galatians 3:5,6

The greatest work ever done on your behalf is already complete. It was finished through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Did He who knew no sin become sin so that you could be called a rotten, filthy sinner? No! He who knew no sin became sin so that you could be called the righteousness of God, and that’s what you are! It’s by faith. That’s what Paul says in Galatians 3. God pointed to the stars and told Abraham that he would have millions and millions of children and that they would be blessed. Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. That righteousness was imputed to him by faith and that’s how it comes to us. The work was finished by Jesus on the cross. You just need to receive it!

Prayer

God, help me to rest in the finished work of Jesus on my behalf. Teach me that I don’t have to strive to earn my salvation.

Reflection

In which areas of my life do I tend to strive? How can I commit them to Jesus and rest in His finished work?
