Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

It’s easy to have good thoughts when things are going well, amen? But it’s not easy when things in your life are hard. If you’ve lost your job, if you’re going through a divorce, if you’re getting sued, if your kid is sick, keeping good thoughts is hard. But that’s when the thoughts matter the most; that’s when they make all the difference. The scriptures have a lot to say about that, and spoiler alert: they’re going to say to keep hope alive. They are going to say that God is faithful. And He is.


God, help me keep my thoughts in check. You are good in the good and in the hard. I pray that I keep good thoughts during both times.
