“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:”

– Ecclesiastes 3:1

We can look at the concept of time from so many different angles. Every minute of your free time is planting a seed for your future. There it is, you just put it in the ground, and the more of that act, deed, or work you do, the more it grows; whether it’s bad or good, you’re planting seeds in your free time. When we take responsibility and use our free time to become the person we want to be, the better our lives become.

There are so many opportunities to choose how we use our time. The next time you have a free moment, instead of reaching for your phone, try quieting your heart and pray the Lord’s Prayer. As you find yourself with a few moments alone, instead of reaching for the remote control, grab that book you’ve been meaning to read. As you go to bed at night, take just a couple of minutes and think about your day and the encounters you had with people. Then pray, asking the Holy Spirit to forgive you of your sins and enable you to see where you can take better actions tomorrow.

Friend, I thank God for free will and the ability to make choices to use our time wisely. With God’s help, you can train yourself to become the person you are called to be. God is here to help you. He extends His mercy, kindness, and friendship toward us. We can use some of our free time, even in small moments, to build ourselves and others into the kind of people God has called us to be.

Prayer

Father, help me to make wise choices in the use of my time. Show me the little moments that can make a difference.
