Trust Your Life and Death to Jesus

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

– John 14:27

For the next two days, I want to talk about a few of the disciplines you can practice to ensure that you are living a serene life. We’ve been looking at how Jesus went about His life on earth relaxed, and how He enables us to enjoy the same peace that He had. In a world that is full of uncertainty and chaos, when we belong to Him and live in the power of His Spirit, we can remain calm in any situation and even sleep through a storm.

To cultivate the fruit of peace, the first and most important thing you must do is trust your life and your death to Jesus Christ. If you have been on the fence about God and reluctant to make a surrendered, all-out commitment to Him, today is a great day to do it! The truth is that if you don’t take this step, nothing else matters; to experience tranquility in your soul, you must surrender yourself the Lord, receive His gift of forgiveness, and start walking as His disciple. When you do this, you are set free from the terror of death and the fear of all the bad things that could happen to you. In short, you no longer have to worry about being your own god and securing your own way. Once your soul is sealed and seated with Jesus, there is no force that can harm you or separate you from His love!

Friend, there is nothing I want more than for you to become a Christian. Everything I write and preach is to point you to Jesus, the One who fulfills everything in every way. I truly believe that He is the source of every good thing in this world, and through the lens of His love, anything is possible in your life! If you’ve never done so, I encourage you to take a moment right now and say “yes” to God. Invite Him into your heart, thank Him for being willing to give His life to make you clean, and receive His restoration from the inside out. After you do this, His Holy Spirit comes to live in you and you are never again alone or without hope. Isn’t that the best news?

Prayer

Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart today. Thank you for going to the cross and giving your life to redeem mine. Please fill me with your Spirit and make me whole from the inside out; all that I am and all that I have are yours.

Reflection

Have you trusted your life and death to Jesus? If so, when did you make that decision? If not, will you surrender to Him today?
