“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
-Galatians 6:2

The difference between the theist and a Christian is that a theist is anyone who believes in God. Christians are theists by nature. Jews are theists. Muslims are theists. Anybody who believes that there is a God is theistic.

If you’re only a theist and you pray, this is the way you pray: “God, I pray for my neighbors over here, that you would help them with their finances. Provide them with what they need.” And then you believe that God will act, in power, from heaven in this person’s life as you walk away. You see? The theist prays for God’s work directly between himself and the object for which you are praying.

The believer, the true Christian, because God lives in him or her, prays and then volunteers himself or herself to answer that prayer, if need be. Does that make sense?

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I want to complete my prayers with godly actions. Show me who needs your care and I will volunteer to help answer their need. Amen.

REFLECTION: As you prayed, who came to mind? What could you do today to help that person in need?
