“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.” -Proverbs 3:24-26
Today, walk in the relaxed easy yoke of Jesus. Jesus took naps, did you know that? Every time I’m taking a nap and I feel guilty, I say, “You know what, I’m going to be more Christ-like and I go back to sleep.” Jesus was relaxed. Jesus isn’t worrying about stuff and neither should you. He trusted the very capable hands of the Father. We don’t need to worry about the outcome. Abandon it to God. Abandon outcomes to God. Abandon it. Trust him. You know God cares more about your circumstance than you do. God cares more about your body than you do. God cares more about all the things you’re worried about. He cares more about you than you do. God wants you to go to heaven more than you want to go to heaven. Really. So don’t worry about your life, don’t worry about your body, what you will wear, what you will own — let it go and don’t worry about your enemies. God will take care of them.
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for caring about us. Help us to relax like Jesus, walk easily, and trust in you.
REFLECTION: How can you practice being relaxed today? I know it’s a Monday, but try walking in the easy yoke of Jesus.
