Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”

– Isaiah 1:18

As we go through life only showing our best and not our worst — just like you would on Facebook — a hunger will begin to develop in you. Now, this hunger can be partially satiated through entertainment, buying some new clothes, having a great meal, having a glass of wine, or doing good things. However, we realize that although we are distracting ourselves from a sense that something is missing in our lives, this is the beginning of addiction and compulsive behavior. In addition, it makes us miss out on the deep friendship we can have. We have this void that we call boredom, but it’s actually emptiness. And God has a better way … Christian Joy! Joy enables you to wake up in the morning with a smile, a sense of purpose, fresh vision, and life! This overflowing joy comes from God, but how does it get to us? It comes through people, through bonding, and through deep, emotional, good friendships and that only happen when we’re brave enough to be our true selves, warts and all.

Prayer

Thank you, God, for the overflowing joy you provide. Help me to be able to be my true self to access that joy.
