“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

2 Corinthians 6:18

Maybe you are in a bad place right — maybe you’re going through an illness, or maybe you lost your job, or you’re struggling with your faith. Sometimes, we get in these places where we just start saying the worst stuff to ourselves when we’re alone. We tell ourselves, I’m not hirable. I’m never going to get well. I’m going to be sick forever. I’m always going to be poor. I’m never going to succeed. My relationships are never going to go well. This kind of self-talk isn’t good. As Christians, we have sometimes been trained to tell ourselves, I am a sinner, I’m a wretch, I’m a horrible person. Sure, we fall short. We have shortcoming, imperfections, and we sin. But that’s not who we are. We are the beloved. God, the almighty creator of the universe, calls us His. That’s who we are.

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for being my Father. Align my identity to you, not to the negative things I think about you. With you, I have hope and a bright future.
