“Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

– Matthew 13:8

The Bible tells us in so many parables that we ought to bear fruit. Can you imagine a farmer going out into his field and looking at the crops and not seeing the potential that lies before him or her? There’s not a farmer out there who would say, I hope that tree doesn’t produce any fruit. It would be foolish for a farmer to hope that their crops will stop growing, right? God would never say that about us. God sees us as fruit-bearing beings that carry forth His Kingdom and His life. We live by faith and what God says about us: You’re redeemed, renewed, restored, and forgiven.

No one else can see in your life the magnitude of the greatness that God sees. A wise man once said, “Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the apples in a seed.” Do you know what that means? By looking at one little seed, God can see that there are thousands, even tens of thousands of apples. God sees us like that. He knows the good seeds that your life will produce. The seed is pushed into the ground, dies, and is then nourished by the soil. It’s tended to by the farmer, and it will bear fruit. Thirty, sixty, a hundred-fold. Isn’t that good news?

Friend, what God wants from your life is that you die to your old ways, not to wallow in it, and be made into a new creation. God is for you. He wants you to have a life-bearing fruit, full of joy and compassion for your neighbor.

Prayer

Father, help me to die to my old ways and produce fruit in my life.
