“Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things.Who is like you, God? Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.”

– Psalms 71:19-20

Today, I will continue to share obstacles that people face that prevent them from following God’s path. The second reason why some people do not take the narrow road to life is the belief that they cannot experience the pain, defeat, shame, or agony of the past again. Were you ever on a dangerous yet narrow road and felt that way? All of us have been there before!

Perhaps you fell off the path, got burned, or something bad happened to you while you were on an adventure. There can be challenges along the narrow road. Maybe you fell into a deep winter once in your life, you fell into a deep pit and couldn’t get out. Or despite all the hard work, your crops got wiped out by a hailstorm, and you say you cannot repeat this defeat again.

Friend, I promise that if you try again, and you succeed, you will look back and say, I’m glad that I tried again. If I fail to win, you ask, what then? That’s possible, but here’s what I can promise you — if you don’t try again, you won’t get the victory. A wise man once said, I’d rather try to do something great and fail than do nothing and succeed. There is no way I can go through that pain again, you say. Well I say, do not underestimate what God and you can accomplish together, my friend. Get back on the road to life, because I know the living Word of God inside of you will carry you to your God-given destination. It’s where you belong!

Prayer

Father, as I follow your path again, please help me to succeed.
