“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2

We often treasure too much what people say about us.

How many times have you heard someone say something like this? “You should hear what Sarah said about you. Actually, maybe I shouldn’t say.” You’re thinking, come on, what did she say? At that point, you’d pretty much pay any amount of money to know. The longer that person holds out on you, the more frustrating it gets. They’ll change the subject, and you’re thinking, hold on, I want to know what Sarah said. However, when you finally find out what she said about you, you’re going to think about it for several days, maybe weeks if you’re as neurotic as I am.

However, no matter how curious or how concerned we are about what people say about us, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that truly matters is that you’re God’s beloved child.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, the only thing that truly matters in this life is that I am your beloved child. Amen.

REFLECTION: What negative comments have stayed in your memory and bother you still today? How does God’s love help you to heal from the emotional injury that you have endured?
